Our Students Deserve Real Opportunities Not Headlines

“Even with the collective experience of an overstretched education system, it is clear that one-size-fits-all policies won’t succeed because they fail to enlist the buy-in of students, teachers, and parents. We have squandered decades in our inability to confront the pervasive gaps and systemic racism in our education system – including a broken funding model in which the single largest source of revenue for schools remains property taxes. Under this status quo, affluent communities easily pull ahead in paying for high quality teachers and embracing new technologies to augment learning, while working class areas and communities of color continue to fall farther behind.”
